NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS

In order to improve students’ mathematical skills and to foster their higher order thinking skills, students are encouraged to take part in national and international competitions both individually and as a team.

 One of the international competitions that our students take part in is “Gauss Contest”,  a competition organized by University of Waterloo, Canada and carried out all around the World. As a part of this competition, students are required to answer some maths questions in English. The other two organizations attended by our students are “The Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC)” and World Maths Day.

One of the national competitions our students join is Bilge Kunduz International Informatics and Information Processing Thinking Event, which is organized with the purpose of raising students’ awareness regarding computer sciences and information processing.“MATBEG” is another organization attended by our students and it mainly aims at improving students’ skills by providing effective feedback to them through asking them a variety of open-ended questions. Kanguru Mathematics Turkey is also a local competition which targets at changing the belief that ‘Maths is boring and difficult’ and at making it more popular among students.

Besides, our students take part in Middle School Mind Games organized by The Turkish Brain Team and the Intelligence Games organized by Turkish Intelligence Foundation on a yearly basis.

NESİN MATHS VILLAGE TRIP

Since 2015-2016 Academic year, we have been organizing trips to Nesin Maths Village, during which our students are provided with the opportunity to have lessons with Ali Nesin. They enjoy the experience of discovering a mathematical theorem by engaging in a    problem-solving process carried out through the use of inductive method.

PI DAY

Pi day event is held so as to draw our students’ attention to 14th March Pi Day through the powerful poster designs and help them develop a positive attitude towards Maths.

MATH PLANET

Since 2014-2015 academic year, Math Planet has been a mathematics platform thanks to which our students have the chance to improve themselves using their thinking skills.
