ACTIVITIES
Social Sciences Day
Projects on various topics, prepared by the students, are presented to the other students on Social Sciences Day. The presentations on fields such as History, Philosophy, Geography and Psychology are performed under the guidance of teachers of the stated fields. During these presentations, held in the classes, the students form a basis for discussions and share their ideas. Our students, who not only develop themselves in terms of self-confidence and public speaking skills, but also have a better understanding of today, a better interpretation of the past and a multilayered perspective of tomorrow.
Art in the Shadow of History
The aim of the art activity organized by Ankara and Denizli Schools in the academic year of 2015-2016 was to understand the effects of various fields on History and analyse the literary texts in the light of the periods in which they were written. Our students, with their knowledge of 18th century Ottoman History and Literature, along with their music, dance and drama skills performed a show in Denizli School displaying multidimensional perspectives.
Vakanuvis Bulletin
In this paper, our students write articles on almost all topics, predominantly history, have interviews with expert historians, journalists and prominent political figures and publish these interviews in the bulletin. Süleyman DEMİREL, the 9th President of Turkey, and his successor Ahmet Necdet SEZER, the 10th President, are two of those prominent political figures. Through the experience they gain, our students learn about journalism and publishing.
COMPETITIONS
TUBITAK Research Project Competition among Secondary Education Students
It is a competition organized by TUBITAK annually in which students have a chance to present their projects in various subjects. The students preparing projects for this competition learn all the steps of scientific project preparation and those chosen to display their projects acquire a unique experience by supporting their thesis. Our students who have attended the competition in the area of History, Psychology and Sociology have received great achievements since the academic year of 2013-2014.
In the academic year of 2012-2013, our school was granted right to take part in the Ankara regional exhibition for TUBITAK Sociology Project Competition.
In the academic year of 2013-2014, our school was granted right to take part in the Ankara regional exhibition for TUBITAK Sociology Project Competition.
In the academic year of 2014-2015 our school was granted right to take part in the Ankara regional exhibition for TUBITAK History Project Competition.
In the academic year of 2014-2015, our school was granted right to take part in the Ankara regional exhibition for TUBITAK Psychology Project Competition.
In the academic year of 2015-2016, our students were placed first among 1700 projects in the field of History.
In the academic year of 2016-2017, our students were placed second in the field of History in the Ankara region.
Think-Write Philosophical Essay Writing Competition
It is a philosophical essay writing competition organized nationwide and composed of three stages. Students participate in the first two stages online. Throughout the year, teachers prepare activities to help our students improve their knowledge related to philosophy. The activities are based on discussions about the works of philosophers.
In the academic year of 2013-2014, our students were placed first in the National Philosophical Essay Writing Competition.
In the academic year of 2014-2015, two of our students were placed in the top 20 and had the opportunity to participate in the Turkish Finals.
In the academic year of 2015-2016, two of our students were placed in the top 20 and had the opportunity to participate in the Turkish Finals.
In the academic year of 2016-2017, six of our students were placed in the top 20 and had the opportunity to participate in the Turkish Finals.
Philosophy Olympics
Philosophy Olympics is an international competition organized by the Turkish Philosophical Association. Our teachers prepare activities in order to help our students improve their knowledge of philosophy. The activities are based on discussions about the works of philosophers.
In the academic year of 2008-2009, one of our students represented our country in Finland.
In the academic year of 2013-2014, one of our students was placed first in The Central Anatolian Region, eighth in Turkey, and had the opportunity to participate in the world Philosophy Olympics.
In the academic year of 2015-2016, one of our students was placed fifth in Turkey and had the right to compete in the elimination for the World Philosophy Olympics.
Baltic Sea Philosophical Essay Event
It is a philosophical essay writing competition organized by the Baltic States. Two students from each school participate in the competition. Students are sent short texts in English written by philosophers through the Internet. They write essays based on those texts. Our teachers help enhance the students’ knowledge of philosophy throughout the year and hold discussions related to philosophical texts.
In the academic year of 2012-2013, one of our students was placed third in a national competition.
In the academic year of 2016-2017, one of our students received the honour award.
